New Year, exciting changes.
Thanks to the love & support of our community over the past year, we're now able to revamp the payment structure of our workshops. We believe this new payment structure more accurately values our offerings, allows our facilitators (all working artists) to be better paid, & fosters a heightened sense of collective exchange. We are retiring our open-donation & 50/50 split model to the following structure starting February 2021:
- All workshops will start at a base rate of $40 per person with the option to donate more, if you're able.
- There's also now an option for participants to donate extra funds towards our community scholarship. This scholarship allows folks from diverse communities to take the workshop at no cost to them. The application process for this scholarship can be found here.
- We'll now be implementing a 70/30 split with facilitators. The 30% goes back into collective.aporia for operation costs.
We value exchange, in all its forms.
While we're very excited for this change, we understand that it might cause financial stress for some of our collective members. To stay true to our goals of accessibility, inclusion, & cooperative reciprocity, we've set up the Work Exchange Initiative (WEI). The WEI includes work-trade options for folks who cannot afford the minimum $40 donation, or would like to ‘buy-in’ to the collective in a different way, such as by writing blog posts, helping with marketing, or editing video subtitles. We’ve also included options for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work, which coincides with our 2021 DEI initiative. We will have more details about this work in the next few weeks.
