About Innisfree & the IWS
Founded in 2010 by Brian Buckley and Kate Hunter, Innisfree Poetry was one of a few poetry-exclusive book shops in the world. For just over a decade, Innisfree existed in a physical space on Boulder, Colorado's University Hill. It was a beloved watering hole and nexus poetic where people could come together to explore and express, a place from which the artist could launch their work into the world.
As an organization, Innisfree has a very rich history of visiting poets, dynamic readings, open mics & more. Even though we don't have a physical space anymore, Innisfree is still deeply devoted to community partnerships, radical ideas, sustainable practices, and above all, POETRY—all of which will help keep Earth inhabitable in the long run.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Innisfree joined forces with collective.aporia to create the Innisfree Workshop Series. This ongoing series is held both in-person and online, with hybrid options available. It's a virtual, temporal, and spiritual space for people to forge community bonds and work with some of the world’s most talented poets. Workshops are donation-based and open to everyone. We do our best to make sure our workshops are accessible, but if you have a specific need or suggestion (for upcoming or past workshops), please don't hesitate to reach out to Drea at innisfree.workshops@gmail.com 🙏🏼
Bring what you can, come as you are. See you at Innisfree.
Donations to the IWS help cover overhead costs for collective.aporia, which is managed by volunteers, as well as Innisfree Poetry Bookstore & Cafe's pandemic-related debts. We hope that the IWS also supports us in eventual recovery as a stomping ground for Boulder poets.
